A LETTER AND LESSON OF GIVING AND THANKS

The following email came from an Intern in my Office:

Hello Ms. Twinkie,

The opportunity to workout of your office this week went above and beyond all expectations I could have--truly on every level. It was such pleasure to listen and take in your wisdom and support the work of my fellow actors. I know every young actor in town would kill to sit where I sat this week and reap the benefits of being on the inside. I can't wait to see what happens next:)

Thanks and see you on Monday!

My parents taught us at a young age to GIVE! Have a "Giving Spirit"..they said. When you give..you receive. Well, this actress came with the Giving Spirit. The more I work in this industry, the more I learn about people who set themselves apart and how they do it. Those who do Internships. Who are Readers.

When I received this letter.. It made me smile! She is giving and receiving. When I speak of getting coffee and emptying the Garbage..It is a REAL thing for me.

What do you think of Giving? How are you being of Service? Just a Question...

PEACE

Hi Twinkie, I met you a while back in Inglewood at a "Business of Music" Seminar, over 7-8 years ago. You were very nice and approachable and I remember asking you if you needed help and you told me to e-mail you. Well, I was a lot younger and inexperienced then, and I did not e-mail you because of so many reasons, but I always think about that. Now I work in the medical field, and I am happy here, but part of me always wonders how much happier I would be working in the film/music industry behind the scenes. Please, if there is any way that I can help at your office, it would be an honor. I would really like to learn more about the industry! Please let me know if this would be a possibility & maybe we could exchange contact information. Thank you.

I feel that GIVING is non-negotiable as long as you are giving WITHOUT expectation of anything in return.. Although.. One cannot GIVE unselfishly without receiving. I smile a lot.. I'm a happy person.. So, I pass smiles out daily. It makes people happy because it's so rare. People just don't seem happy.. Not genuinely anyways. And as an actress.. I like to tell stories and people enjoy watching these stories, so I am of service by telling these stories to them that they enjoy and connect to and look forward to.. Some enjoy the escape.. They want I see love.. Happiness.. The hero.. And I love to bring them all.. My talent is my service.. I'm not keeping it to myself.. Because it wasn't a gift given to me FOR me. It was meant to share.. Where ever the universe sees fit.. On stage.. In a park.. But I live to make a difference.. Like working with GLAAD. Working with the committee has been one of the highlights of my days here. I'm happy knowing that people in this world care about other people. It brings me such joy knowing that what I do makes a difference in the life of someone else.. So in giving that service.. I feel good and that warmth inside from the smiles I see outside... Makes each day I make a difference for someone my reason for being.

Twinkie you are POWERFUL.
As a young woman I truly am grateful for your wisdom and knowledge and I continue to follow your blog. Thank you for speaking your truth and ultimately encouraging others to find their own and do the same. I would love for your to check out my new music video and let me know your thoughts. As a young artist I am constantly seeking growth and advice, and I would be truly honored to hear your thoughts.
Sending you light and love.

It’s sad how people now and days take being grateful for granted. I too was brought up being thankful and grateful towards others, no matter how big or how small the gesture. People fail to realize that no one has to do anything for anyone, so when someone goes out of their way to do something nice one should always give thanks. And with that…thank you Twinkie for this blog. You have enough on your plate as it is and yet you go above and beyond to have a blog that helps us actors. You’re awesome.
